auto format font for numbers in MS Word

I can not find it on the internet so I do it myselft and log it here.

Use search & replace feature.

Solution 0: (recommended)
Use search and replace:

  1. In the search box type in ^# (alternatively, select more, select special, choose any digit)
  2. In the replace box type in ^& (alternatively, select more, select special, choose find what text); then, choose the format you like (font Georgia is highly recommended)

Solution 1: Optional: You can create a macro to do the above quickly by a single key press. Refer to the below macro code for your own use.

Sub formatNumbers()

‘ formatNumbers Macro

Selection.Find.ClearFormatting
Selection.Find.Replacement.ClearFormatting
Selection.Find.Replacement.Font.Name = “Georgia”
With Selection.Find
.Text = “^#”
.Replacement.Text = “^&”
.Forward = True
.Wrap = wdFindContinue
.Format = True
.MatchCase = False
.MatchWholeWord = False
.MatchWildcards = False
.MatchSoundsLike = False
.MatchAllWordForms = False
End With
Selection.Find.Execute Replace:=wdReplaceAll
End Sub
